In Italy, health protection and health care are guaranteed for all documented and undocumented Italian and foreign citizens by the National Health Service (NHS), which offers a set of health facilities and services.
Undocumented foreigners are not reported to the Police.
Undocumented foreigners in the hospitals and health services are not reported. If you don’t have a permesso di soggiorno [residence permit] and you need a doctor, go to the hospital or your nearest STP [Straniero Temporaneamente Presente – temporarily present foreigner] clinic. The doctors and healthcare staff will not report you.
